The Final AutoText Tip - Adding a Tool bar button
Depending on how you want to use your Word, with Hotkeys or AutoText prompts or by clicking on a Toolbar button, this option may or may not be for you.
What we are going to to is create a button on your Word tool bar so when you want to add in your AutoText you can simply click this button.
To do this go to the Tools menu in Word. Then select Customise then Commands. (Tools -> Customise -> Commands). See part IV
Scroll down the Left hand list until you see AutoText. Click this. Now you will then see a list of the available AutoTexts in the list on the right.
Now use the left mouse button to click and hold the AutoText entry you want. You will see a small button picture near your mouse. This shows you that you can create a button with this item on your toolbar.
Now drag it to the any of the Tool Bars at the top of your Word window and let it go. Now you can see a button labelled with the name you gave the AutoText.
You can see in this image the button with my AutoText entry - Gavin.
Step 6
Save your template/document. Test your efforts out by using this document as you always would. When you get to the place where you want the AutoText, simply click the button on your tool bar.
