Quick Shutdown Print E-mail
Tired of having to go through 3 clicks just shut your PC down? We all do it, First we click the Start button, then choose shutdown, then choose shutdown again and finally click ok just to confirm we really do want to shut our PC’s down.

Well here’s a trick I picked up that side steps all of that and really does shut the PC down, with just 1 click. Want to know how? Ok then….. read on.

For XP users you will need to create a shortcut on your desktop. To create a shortcut simply, find some clear space on your desktop and right click with your mouse. Choose New, then ShortCut.
New shortcut

When you do you will see a screen like this one.
New Shortcut screen

Copy and paste the text ‘SHUTDOWN -s -t 01’ (excluding the ‘ quotes) so that it looks like this.

Get the text right

Once you happy you have the correct text click Next. Now type a name for your new Shortcut. I called mine ‘Quick Exit’ and click Finish. Here's how it looked.

The text is right. Time to click finish!

You should now have your very own quick shutdown shortcut on your desktop. Try it out and see how it works. Remember to save your work before you do though!
